Jeakins began in 2001 as Osterley Coach Travel when we decided it was time to have a go at running our own company. Having experience with two other prestigious coach operators in West London & growing up with a family coach company, it seemed the next logical step.

We secured the purchase of a 24 seat Mercedes minicoach & obtained an Operators Licence from the Department of Transport  Some thought it wouldn’t last & he was just playing around, but the sceptics were proved wrong & the company is going from strength to strength almost 14 years later.

After winning an initial school route, we soon found committing our only vehicle to the daily route didn’t help the rest of the business. It was clear Osterley was about to begin its first expansion. Another minicoach was sourced in the form of a 18 seater, a lovely little coach that served the company for many years. In 2006 the company purchased its first full size coach, a 51 seat Iveco Beulas. It was a brave move, but proved to be a good one.

As time went by & more work was obtained from school hires & private hires the fleet grew, we also acquired a few smaller operators along the way, organic growth saw the company acquire The Little School Bus Co, Tudor Travel & Medallion Travel. In 2007 the company moved away from the area of Osterley & the majority of work was based around the North Surrey area. A decision was taken to re-brand the business with a non-generic name; after many suggestions, we settled upon Jeakins.

In 2013 the company moved to a new depot solely for its use in Thorpe, Surrey. The site houses purpose built offices and a workshop area for maintenance on the fleet, a huge step up from the portacabin the company had in the gravel yard before.

The fleet is currently an equal split of mini-coaches & full size coaches, all modern and presented to a high standard. Most are finished in our unique dark metallic blue livery with some plain liveried vehicles for certain contract requirements.

We never envisaged how the business would turn out, there were many dreams & goals, but 14 years later, the hard work has paid off & it is said with real feeling – we’re proud of what we have achieved!
